This week went by in a flash! We were busy learning new word wall words: the and little, reading new books, studying different math patterns and writing EVERY day!!! Most importantly, I have observed some wonderful moments of kindness and compassion amongst the group. I am thrilled to see that this is a class that loves to build each other up! ❤️

Earlier in the week we discussed the difference between a repeating pattern and growing pattern. Ask your child to describe the difference!

Did you notice the paper bag platypus come home this week? This is a character from one of the stories we read. When the kids finished making their platypus, I asked them to read stories to it!!

Hopefully you saw this book come home this week. You will see these paper books come home on a weekly basis. I am the first to admit that the content is not too exciting 😜 but the pattern and repetition of words helps build reading fluency.  Please take some time each week to practice reading these short stories.

I am working on encouraging kids to spend time reading books that are “just right” for them. After a period of quiet reading, I asked the kids to choose a favorite part from the story. I was so proud of their work!

We ended the week with some fun with apples! The kids made wonderful observations of their apples...inside and out! 🍎🍏
